Encounter #63:
                                                                  Why Jesus Came
                                                               Read: Mark 15:29-47

As Jesus was on the cross, people passing by were mocking Him. They told Him to save Himself. The Jewish leaders heard Jesus say He was the Messiah, and Pilate heard Him say He was the King of the Jews. Jesus was on the cross for six hours. He asked His Father to forgive them, and experienced His Father's absence. There was darkness from noon until 3 pm. He cried with a loud voice, "It is finished." He accomplished His mission. He placed His spirit into the Father's hands and died. There was an earthquake, and the veil in the Temple tore from top to bottom. The Centurion at the cross exclaimed that Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus was removed from the cross and placed in a tomb.

Why did Jesus do all of this? Why did He die on a cross? Answer: for our sins. He died for you and me. The Bible says that everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23; 6:23). No one is sinless. We deserve eternal punishment. But God, the Father sent Jesus, His Son, to take our place. By His dying on the cross He took all of our sins (John 3:16-19). His blood has the power to forgive and cleanse us from our sins (1 John 1:7-9).

If we put our faith in Him and what He has done , we will be forgiven (Romans 10:9-10). Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people (John  14:1-6). Jesus is the only way to Heaven (Acts 4:12). Have you put your faith in what Jesus has done? Receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior (John 1:12). Being good, and doing good works isn't enough for you to go to heaven (Titus 3:5). You have to be born again (John 3:1-7). Accept Jesus into your heart now. Pray and ask Him to forgive you for your sins, and thank Him for dying on the cross and shedding His blood for you.  God loves you.

Prayer: Thank you Father for sending Your Son Jesus to die for me. Help me to live for Him, In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Application:  Pray for someone to come to Jesus. And then allow the Holy Spirit to open a door so you may witness to them about the love of God.

Encounter: Receive the Holy Spirit's power and anointing to be a witness for Jesus,
