Encounter #61:                                 Denial & Repentance
                                                           Read:  Mark 14:66-72

While Jesus was being tried for being the Messiah, Peter was being tried for being a follower of Jesus. A young girl who was a servant of the High Priest asked Peter if he was a disciple of Jesus. Peter denied he was. A Rooster crowed. Strike one. Another one told those around Peter that he was a disciple of Jesus. Peter again denied he was a disciple. Strike two. While he was around others, a maid said that he was a Galilean. His speech confirmed that he was. He denied Jesus again. The rooster crowed again. Strike three. Jesus looked at him. Peter remembered His words. Peter wept in repentance.

Peter failed, fainted, fell, feared and fled.  Because he repented, Peter was now forgiven, filled, faithful, fervent and free. Maybe you denied Jesus, or failed to be a witness. Ask for forgiveness and  God will restore you. Repentance means changing your way. Continue to follow Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I ask for Your strength to be faithful with my witness for Jesus. Thank you for the power of Your Holy Spirit to help me to be a witness. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Application: Find someone who needs Jesus. Be a witness. Tell them God loves them and Jesus died for their sins. Pray for their salvation.

Encounter: Receive the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit to be a witness for Jesus       (Acts 1:8)
