Encounter
# 42:
“Faith--->Wholeness”
Read: Mark
10:46-52
Great
multitudes continued to follow Jesus. Bartimaeus was a blind man who
was begging along the side of the road. He heard that Jesus of
Nazareth was passing by. Bartimaeus knew where Jesus was from, but
he also knew Who Jesus was. He called Jesus the Son of David. He
knew Jesus was the Messiah. Many people know Jesus was born in
Bethlehem and grew up in Nazareth. But do they know Him as the
Messiah, the Son of David? Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus for
mercy. He wasn't seeking money, but he was looking for mercy.
Many people
around Bartimaeus told him to be quiet. “Don't bother Jesus.” But
he cried louder. He wanted to get Jesus' attention. Never stop crying
out to Jesus. Don't let anyone or anything hinder you from calling
out to Jesus. What did Jesus do? He stood still. The Son stood still!
The blind man got His attention. Jesus commanded Bartimaeus to be
called. Now Jesus is calling the blind man. Jesus heard the man's cry
for mercy. He always hears those who call on Him in desperation and
need.
Bartimaeus
cast away his outer cloak which represented his lifestyle as a beggar
and leaped up to come to Jesus. What “cloak” is keeping you from
coming to Jesus? Sickness? Sin? Addictions? Repent and “cast it
off” and run to Jesus. Jesus asked Bartimaeus, “What do you want
me to do for you?” The blind man needed to acknowledge his need to
Jesus. What did Jesus do? He healed the blind man. What did Jesus
say? “Go your way, your faith has made you whole.” Bartimaeus was
immediately healed. His faith had made him whole. He wasn't only
healed physically, but also spiritually. He received spiritual sight
as well. He was saved. His faith had saved him.
Are you
calling out to Jesus in faith? He will heal and save you. He will
make you whole. Trust Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I ask that you forgive me for my unbelief and
that you have mercy on me and heal me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Application:
Find someone who needs God's mercy and healing and pray with them and
believe God to save, heal and deliver them.
Encounter
Jesus: Jesus is with you to make you whole. Reach out to Him now
in faith and receive wholeness.
